Redbirds (50+) Unleash 11-Run Barrage in Dominant Victory Over Metroflex

The Redbirds (50+) soared to an impressive 19-6 victory over Metroflex on Saturday at the McInnish Sports Complex, thanks in large part to an electrifying 11-run second inning.

In a dazzling display of offense, Chris Cec ignited the fireworks with an RBI single, followed by Lester Bedford’s bases-loaded walk. The relentless assault continued as Marcos Vidal was hit by a pitch to drive in another run, and Kevin Fought delivered a clutch two-run single. John Mahalik kept the rally alive with a two-run single, and the pressure on Metroflex’s defense led to multiple runs scoring on fielder’s choices and errors. Richard Sullivan capped off the inning with an RBI single.

The Redbirds weren’t done yet, extending their lead in the top of the third. Fought brought home a run with a sacrifice fly, Mahalik drew a bases-loaded walk, and both Daron Wilkinson and Jerry Gamez added RBIs with fielder’s choices and singles.

Cec earned the win on the mound, allowing just four runs over three innings while striking out three. Metroflex’s starter, John Parker, struggled against the relentless Redbirds offense, surrendering 17 runs (15 earned) on 14 hits in just over three innings.

The Redbirds’ bats were on fire, collecting 19 hits in total. Rich Beller led the charge, going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate. Vidal, Fought, and Mahalik each drove in three runs, while Cec and Mark Tierney also had multi-hit games. The team’s patience at the plate was rewarded with eight walks, and their sharp defense turned a key double play.

Despite a strong effort from Metroflex’s Green, who went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and contributions from Tad Holobrok, the Redbirds’ explosive offense was too much to handle.

With this dominant win, the Redbirds (50+) continue to prove they are a formidable force on the diamond, ready to take on any challenge that comes their way.
