In a dominant performance, the Redbirds (50+) secured a resounding 16-3 victory against the Freebirds at McInnish Sports Complex. Mark Tierney’s stellar display at the plate played a pivotal role in the team’s success, collecting three hits in four at-bats.

The Redbirds wasted no time asserting their dominance, exploding for nine runs in the first inning. Tierney led the charge with a double, driving in a run, followed by contributions from Daron Wilkinson, Scott Rodges, Joe Cano, and Paul Maust. Their early offensive onslaught set the tone for the game.

Tierney continued to showcase his offensive prowess, delivering crucial hits in the first and fourth innings with two more doubles and a single. His consistency at the plate provided a significant boost to the Redbirds’ scoring efforts throughout the game.

On the mound, Tierney also excelled, earning the win for the Redbirds as the starting pitcher. Over five innings of work, he allowed just two hits and three runs (one earned), striking out five and walking four. Tierney’s strong pitching performance helped maintain the Redbirds’ commanding lead.

The Redbirds’ offense was firing on all cylinders, amassing 14 hits in total. Rodges and Tierney led the charge, each driving in three runs, while Cano, Kevin Fought, and Wilkinson also made significant contributions with multiple hits.

Despite the Freebirds’ efforts, collecting hits from Enrique and Doug, they couldn’t match the Redbirds’ offensive output. Enrique, Rod, and Doug each drove in a run for the Freebirds, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Redbirds’ dominant performance.

With the win secured, the Redbirds (50+) look ahead to their next challenge as they prepare to face Metroflex in their upcoming game. Mark Tierney’s exceptional performance earns him the well-deserved title of Player of the Game for his pivotal role in leading the Redbirds to victory.
