The Diablos struck first, scoring a run in the top of the third inning courtesy of a clutch single by Bill Hanley. However, the Redbirds quickly responded in the bottom of the inning, capitalizing on an error by the Diablos and a fielder’s choice by Mahalik to take the lead. Despite a limited number of hits, the Redbirds made the most of their opportunities, with key contributions from Chris Cec, Aaron Nowels, and Jerry Gamez, each driving in a run.
